Frequently asked questions

  • Also called teleultrasoud, telesonography is a form of telemedicine that enables medical professionals to perform diagnostic ultrasounds remotely.

Here’s how it works: A healthcare worker in one location performs the exam and transmits the resulting cine clips to a secure cloud platform. A medical professional in another location (in our case, a BB Imaging perinatal sonographer) then performs diagnostics and completes a preliminary report for the interpreting provider to review.

Telesonography is particularly helpful in understaffed clinics, in areas that are underserved by specialized healthcare professionals, and in remote areas with limited access to healthcare facilities.

  • TeleScan is currently set up to serve OB practitioners, family practice providers, radiologists, and MFM specialists.

TeleScan can conduct exams in the first, second, and third trimesters of pregnancy.

  • TeleScan performs anatomy scans, growth scans, nuchal translucency exams, and biophysical profiles.

  • We provide:

    • A highly-skilled perinatal telesonographer certified in fetal echocardiography, nuchal translucency, and CLEAR

    • TeleScan software

    • Live IT support

    • TeleScan Certified Operator training

    • Timely and comprehensive preliminary reports for each patient

    • Guaranteed telesonographer coverage

    • Ongoing communication and support

You provide the space, the ultrasound equipment, and the interpreting physician.

  • A local healthcare professional, potentially a medical assistant, nurse, midwife, or physician, can operate TeleScan.

BB Imaging’s vision for utilizing local healthcare workers as TeleScan operators aligns with acknowledgments from both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regarding the expanding role of medical assistants in remote physiologic monitoring (RPM).

  • Our average report turnaround time is around 30 minutes.

If the telesonographer suspects a pathology during their review, they will immediately notify the reading provider.

  • Our surveys show 92% of patients report being at ease during their appointment.

Additionally, patients have described their care team as nice, kind, caring, awesome, super friendly, and accommodating.
